I’m Nathaniel Maloney, a musician, artist, photographer, and lifelong outdoorsman from Northeast Ohio.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to making things. Sometimes that means writing a song or picking up a guitar, banjo, mandolin, or fiddle. Other times it means drawing, painting, wood burning, carving, taking photographs, or simply heading outside with a fishing rod or camera.

Music has always been at the center of my creative life. I write and record my own songs and play a variety of instruments, with much of my inspiration coming from folk, Americana, bluegrass, country, and the music I grew up listening to. I’ve never been particularly interested in fitting everything I create into one category. I’d rather follow an idea wherever it leads.

The same is true of my artwork and photography. Much of it comes back to the natural world—fish, birds, wildlife, old trees, farms, creeks, changing seasons, and the landscapes of Northeast Ohio. Fishing, hunting, kayaking, hiking, and exploring are not separate from my creative work. They’re often where the ideas begin.

I make music. I make art. I spend as much time outdoors as I can. I document the things I find interesting along the way.

And I’m still making.
